Join us for a festive Huizinga Instituut social event at Museum Het Schip, the renowned museum dedicated to the Amsterdam School, a distinctive movement in early 20th-century architecture and design. Located in a striking housing complex designed by architect Michel de Klerk, the museum offers a fascinating look into the artistic ideals of community and craftsmanship that shaped this historic workers’ neighborhood.

Our afternoon will begin with a guided tour of the building and its surrounding area, offering insights into the architecture, urban ideals, and social history of the Amsterdam School. Afterwards, we’ll visit the museum’s current exhibition, Ongekend Talent: Vrouwen van de Amsterdamse School, which highlights the often-overlooked women artists whose work contributed to this iconic movement.

We’ll conclude the afternoon with a cozy drink in the museum café — a chance to chat and connect with fellow Huizinga Instituut members in an inspiring setting.
