In 2026 stelt het Koninklijk Oudheidkundig Genootschap (KOG) voor de tweede keer een scriptieprijs beschikbaar voor studenten in hun masterfase of reeds afgestudeerden binnen de studies kunst- en (cultuur)geschiedenis en erfgoed- en restauratieonderzoek aan Nederlandse universiteiten en hogescholen (WO/HBO). De prijs bedraagt € 1000 per winnende scriptie en wordt eens in de twee jaar uitgereikt.
Het idee achter de prijs is kunst- en (cultuur)historisch onderzoek te bevorderen betreffende het ontstaan, de geschiedenis, presentatie en beheer van Nederlandse (openbare) verzamelingen, zoals musea, archieven en bibliotheken en de rol van collecties hierbij. Binnen dit brede domein vallen thema’s als geschiedenis van het verzamelen door personen, instellingen en musea, receptieonderzoek, onderzoek in relatie tot restauraties, objectstudies en onderzoek naar genootschappen.
In aanmerking komen afgeronde scripties (WO/HBO) uit de periode 2024-2026 die met een 8 of hoger zijn beoordeeld. De scripties kunnen zowel in het Nederlands als het Engels zijn gesteld. Op de KOGlezingenavond van 14 december 2026 zal de winnaar bekend worden gemaakt. De winnaar zal een presentatie geven op 18 januari, de eerste KOGlezingenavond in 2027.
Scripties die aan de eerder genoemde voorwaarden voldoen, kunnen tot uiterlijk 31 augustus 2026 als pdf met bijlagen worden gestuurd by e-mail to Monique de Louwere, secretaris.

In 2026, the Koninklijk Oudheidkundig Genootschap (KOG) for the second time will present its thesis to MA- or recently graduated students in Art History and Cultural History or in Heritage and Restoration Studies at Dutch Universities of Universities of Applied Science (HBO). The KOG thesis award is awarded every second year and consists of an amount of € 1000 per winning thesis.
The aim of this award is to promote research in Art History and Cultural History into the emergence, history, presentation, and conservation of (public) collections in the Netherlands (e.g., musea, archival institutions, libraries) and the role collections have in this matter. This also includes the history of private and public collections, research on the reception of such collections, research on restorations, object studies and research into learned societies.
Eligible are theses (WO/HBO; either in Dutch or English), completed in 2024-2026 and graded 8 out of 10 or above. The winner will be announced at the lecture night of the KOG of 14 December 2026; the winner is expected to present the thesis on the KOG lectuire night of 18 January 2027.
