In my dissertation I will focus on the question of how play in the white evangelical media landscape, especially televangelism, as well as other cultural products and phenomena of the evangelical right, contribute to worlding a “pure” White America. I will be analyzing the reverberations of evangelical worlding in the realms of evangelical media empires, apocalyptic oriented religious nationalism, playful conspiracism and reproductive rights (policy) in the U.S.

As a workpackage of the ERC project WORLDING AMERICA, I will make use of an interdisciplinary approach which combines, amongst other things, various play and counterplay theories, visual and new media analyses and interpretations, and different theories on temporality and apocalyptic thinking in order to shed new light on this part of U.S. American (social) history.
